A delicious cashew alternative to cream cheese
Gozo Deli produces a range of tasty, cashew-based alternatives to cream cheese which are dairy and gluten free, using organic, natural and additive-free ingredients.
The Casheese is treated like any other gourmet cheese, adding a culture to develop flavour and nutritional benefits, and infusing with herbs and spices to create a beautiful range of Casheeses to suit all tastes.
My favourite Casheese is the creamy Chive, an amazing soy free product that easily outshines the local supermarket cheese! I tried mine with Kallo smoked paprika rice and corn cakes, a heavenly combo…
5 minutes with founder Lydia Davidson
Being brought up vegetarian and moving to a vegan diet as a teenager. Lydia found it especially hard to give up dairy cheese, and the alternatives currently available in the UK are “soya-based, processed and taste pretty artificial.” I couldn’t agree more and therefor I’m super excited to have found Gozo! My new favoured cheese alternative.
Where did the name Gozo Deli come from?
I started the business after travelling in South America earlier this year. Gozo means ‘joy’ in Spanish, and it describes the feeling I want to bring to people when they eat cashew cheese!
Is the sourcing of ingredients important to you or would you say for Casheese its more about what you do with the ingredients?
The sourcing of our ingredients is essential from both an ethical and taste point of view. Our Soil Association stamp reassures customers that all of our ingredients are organic, thereby guaranteeing the best flavour and nutrition. We also ensure that our ingredients are ethically sourced, supporting farmers and workers across the world with a fair wage and safe working conditions.
They are also delicious with nachos! Have a look at the recipe here: Nut Cheese Nachos
These four delicious flavours are available to buy in independent shops, Planet Organic, Harrods and soon Selfridges. Also available at pop-up markets in London, run by the Food Assembly.
