Newly opened early December last year, Comptoir V is a lovely new vegan addition to Kensal Rise. And although we live in South London, we will travel back up North to enjoy that beautiful food.
Comptoir V is being introduced by the owners of nearby Moroccan and Middle Eastern restaurant, Comptoir Mezze , which won the Time Out Award for the Best Restaurant in North-West London. Comptoir V aims to make plant-based eating and drinking exciting for vegans and meat-eaters alike.
We had the pleasure of meeting head chef Michael Ninvalle, a vegan himself, was the proud recipient of a National Award for his work in his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, and has most recently honed his cooking skills at top-rated restaurant, Love Gift Vegan London, which is just around the corner from us in Brockley.
Apple and Mint Mocktail with Dynamite Prawn Cocktail
Accompanying the food will be a selection of biodynamic vegan wines, vegan beers such as Tiny Rebel and Beavertown, and cocktails rich in superfoods. An array of cold-pressed juices, antioxidant rich lattes and freshly ground organic coffee will be on offer alongside the alcoholic tipples. To be honest I drink less and less these days, and it’s always a nice surprise to find a restaurant that caters so well to people who choose not to have a drink.
Dynamite Prawn Cocktail
Ninvalle has taken inspiration from around the world with a particular nod to Middle Eastern flavours to design a vibrant and diverse menu of plant-powered delights including Shakshouka Tagine with Vegan Merguez, Vegan Jerk Burger, and Baked Vegan Parmesan, Harissa Cauliflower Steak and Return of the Mac, topped with mushroom ribs, which was our favourite.
