And here it is, the first day of the first month in the New Year. My New Years resolution is to ease myself into having a vegan diet.
I started juicing in Spring last year and it’s changed my energy levels, my skin is clearer and I sleep so much better. After doing plenty of research, I decided that I don’t just want to incorporate juicing in my life, but change the way food controlled my life. I decide what really feeds my body, and I started reading up on small prints before sporadically putting things in my shopping basket that weren’t going to fill me up, nor nourish my body in the future.
I must say, between juggling different projects and moving house a number of times last year, it hasn’t always been easy to find healthy drinks on the go.
But then I came across these colourful Savse smoothies, they were a real pick me up on a rainy day!
Starting in Mum Nina’s kitchen, family run business SaVse have almost 30 years experience in juicing. That has led to creating a very delicious combination between juice and smoothie, a drink that is genuinely healthy, nutritious and great-tasting.
Nina was diagnosed with iron deficiency during her pregnancy. The doctor advised her to drink a blend of spinach and apple juice. Loving the results so much, she has been developing her recipes and joyously juicing ever since for her and her children.
In 2011 her son asked why it wasn’t possible to buy smoothies as good as his mother made at home. Following months of research, Nina (now 49) and her family embarked on a mission to bring their concept to the mainstream consumer.
All SaVse drinks are cold-pressed – meaning that on the day of production the raw fruit and veg that goes into them are squeezed, pressed and pureed individually. By using a process called HPP (High Pressure Processing) to lock in all the goodness and nutrients of the raw full fruit and veg. This is different to the pasteurisation method used by a lot of companies out there where the ingredients are heated, meaning a lot of the nutritional value is lost and the quality is compromised.
These lovely smoothies are all-natural and available in 5 flavours. Each 250ml bottle also provides 2 of your 5-a-day!
Try them out and let me know what’s your favourite. Although I usually have a green smoothie or juice, I really like the mango, celery, orange and carrot smoothie. Bright orange, what a way to brighten up a rainy day!
